WEB SUPERHEROES POSE FOR FLORRIES SUPERHEROMarket Square-based, The Works, has announced it will be lending its support to the forthcoming Florrie’s Superhero event, taking place on Sunday 3rd May, Aylesbury Town Centre, by launching a special competition to design a superhero milkshake.

“We’re delighted to have chosen Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity (FNHC) as our Charity of the Year, and are really looking forward to supporting this fantastic fun run event on the May Day Bank Holiday weekend in aid of the Charity’s Florrie’s Children’s Team,” says Works owner Roger Bolton. “We are inviting our guests and superhero runners to put their thinking caps on and design a superhero milkshake, including ingredients, colours and most importantly a name. We will then sell the milkshake exclusively in The Works (or take away) on event day to help raise extra funds for this wonderful, local cause. The winner will be invited in along with up to five of their family or friends for a celebratory waffle or crepe meal and will also get to ‘taste test’ and sign off their milkshake before it goes on sale to the general public.”

You can enter the competition via Facebook #florencenightingalehospice or #eatattheworks or by emailing your milkshake idea through to the fun run team at Closing date for entries is Wednesday 15th April, 5.00pm.

The Florrie’s Superhero  5k fun run event will see runners, joggers, walkers of all ages and abilities, donning fancy dress, setting off from Market Square at 10am on to Kingsbury Square and then Oxford Road before looping back to the finish line, with a number of energy-boosting pit-stops along the way including George David Estate Agents.

“This is our first town centre event and all funds raised from the day will go towards supporting the Florrie’s Children’s Team, which needs over £100,000 this year to keep running,” explained, FNHC’S Karen Shardlow. “We know it’s going to be a lot of fun, so if you are thinking of taking part as a superhero school or business team, or as a family, please register online here or simply give us a call on 01296 429975. Your support really will make a huge difference to the lives of local children battling life-limiting illness on our doorstep.”

Entry costs £10 per adult, £7.50 per child and under 2s go free. A special family of four ticket is priced at £30. Registration fee includes event entry, souvenir medal and refreshments on the day.
